Hi all,
I’ve made it no secret in my recent posts that life has hit me pretty hard recently. I have struggled to stay motivated in my mental health recovery.
Things are beginning to improve oh-so-slowly, so I’ve decided to create a list to remind myself of all the wonderful things I am grateful for and my motivations for recovery.
Even though I know it will be hard, it will be worth it.
.
.
.
To graduate from my masters in MSc Forensic Psychology.
.
.
.
To travel and to see more of the world.
.
.
.
Finding simple pleasures in everyday things.
.
.
.
To pet more goats.
.
.
.
To be the woman my Nan always knew I could be.
.
.
.
For all of the Christmases yet to come…
.
.
.
… and forcing Brad into wearing festive pyjamas on Christmas Eve.
.
.
.
To prove to my Dad that is our choices which determine where we are, far more than the situation we are put in.
.
.
.
To own a Golden Retriever…
.
.
.
To celebrate Chloe when she finally becomes the amazing Adult and Mental Health nurse she’s studied so hard to be.
.
.
.
The feeling that comes when it’s finally Autumn/ Winter again.
.
.
.
To carry on laughing at Brad when he drinks too much and spends the night with his head in a toilet.
.
.
.
To own my own home, to share it with the ones I love, and decorate it like I’ve dreamed in my Pinterest boards.
.
.
.
To make my Mum and Grandad proud of me.
.
.
.
To spend more days staring lovingly at my engagement ring.
.
.
.
For all the iced-coffees I haven’t drunk yet.
.
.
.
To see Astrid finally be able to be their true self.
.
.
.
For all the Eastenders episodes I haven’t watched yet.
.
.
.
To watch the little ones grow up into awesome people.
.
.
.
To have my wedding day with the man of my dreams.
.
.
.
To enjoy more sunsets.
.
.
.
To spend more time with animals.
.
.
.
To beam with pride as Nicola becomes Dr Hepburn!
.
.
.
To carry on being such a Harry Potter nerd. I’d love to go to America and visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – it’s always been on my bucket list.
.
.
.
To carry on making memories with Brad.
.
.
.
To be the Mum I’m too scared to admit I actually want to be someday.
.
.
.
To see Leena flourish and achieve everything she deserves.
.
.
.
To feel like me again.
.
.
.
Someone didn’t get the opportunity to have today, so I will be grateful for mine and use it whilst I can.
What are your motivations for recovery?
.
.
.
.
This is a great post. It’s wonderful to be able to look forward and see why we’re putting ourselves through recovery. I hope you get everything you’ve dreamed of.
